I just can't stop.

lie to me.

you're wasting all your time here
riding around in the sun
alone and idling
come wander back to me
you know i'll always be there

lie to me, lie to me
make like you love me
lie to me, lie to me

with this one you never go
and this one you never show yourself
with this one you tell it all
and turn your world into a ghost town

lie to me, lie to me
make like you love me
lie to me, c'mon it's easy

don't think of what we can't be
i know what you need and you know that you like it
the name you were born with
your soul on your sleeve
let me believe in something

you know you're weird when...

your day goes from so-so to celestial when you hear, turn up really loud, and sing along to every word and whistle of Scorpions' "Wind of Change" while driving home from work. all while ignoring the pointed looks from the other drivers. move along, people, move along.

love this man.

Apparently I'm the last to hop on this bandwagon but it's one of those things where not one single crap is being given, because I'm here now.

This man's songs? And his face, style, and general amazingness? Lots of love.

I cannot make this decision. It's a choice between speaking to my heart or speaking to my soul.

Uhh...

I clicked on "New Post" and now realize that I have very little to say. Hm. I'm excited to go to Sundance on Saturday; I think we're going to see some awesome movies. Oh, and I want you all to listen to Electric President when you have the chance. Especially the album Sleep Well.

This is all.

We should bring back mix tapes.

I'm talking mix tapes of the caliber found in High Fidelity or Hairstyles of the Damned. Yes. I've been making a lot of mixes for work lately, and since I have nothing else to blog about, I'll share the track listings of one mix with you...song name first, followed by artist. P.S. I don't believe in the whole "You can't have the same artist twice" nonsense. Nonsense. As long as they're not consecutive, you're fine.

Mix title: Not Again

2. Faintest of Sparks, Amandine
3. Apologize (If You Tried), Buddy
4. The Echoing Airports, The One AM Radio

Your Heart Is An Empty Room.

I have to admit: I daydream a lot. And I think sometimes this gets translated by other people as flightiness or ditziness. So I have a few new goals in mind, mainly two, which are (1) to not live in my own world so much and (2) to become a better speaker. I think I've got written expression down pretty well, but speaking has never been my forte, mostly because I'm usually trying to surface out of my own thoughts. Unless the conversation is really engaging; I have no problem then. I'm pretty sure I'm not at Paula Abdul incoherence status, but I know I've said some dumb, incoherent things before. I just tend to become disconnected if, er, I'm not interested.

In other news, I'm starting to dread packing so I keep putting it off. I just want to be there, dang it, and not have to go through the annoying part of air/tube travel. Oh well.
Also, I went to a show last night and re-fell in love with this artist, whose solo project is called Bellarayne. He was absolutely fantastic. Check out Cody's blog for a more eloquent explanation.

Beauty, Thy Name is Joshua Radin.

Tonight Cara, Janae, and Tanner went to see Joshua Radin at In The Venue and, oh wow. Usually I can find some way to express myself but trying to do so after hearing this man's music live is near impossible. Never before has a show evoked such a strong emotional response in me; I'm talking full on teary-eyed emotion. He is extremely talented--one of my favorite songs of his he wrote when he was sixteen years old. Unbelievable. His, uh, extreme physical beauty even seemed a little superfluous after seeing him handle the guitar and amazing vocals.

Not that I wasn't aware of it from the beginning ;)
I love love love this man and anything musical his mind produces.

Ingrid Michaelson opened for him, along with an Alexa...something (I can't remember her last name), and they both had their share of talent. All in all, it was a good night--particularly the always-eventful post-show Denny's trip--and I'm happy to say I'm now a believer in the "mellow" show movement.
