Ghazel.

I wanted to run at the sign of the end
as the man unraveled the twine at the end.

Hurt, your throat closes and hears consuming fire
My ears do not feel what you whine when you end.

What would your wish be, if you could choose to stay?
Gripped by a torrent of earth, we find our end.

Job, struck down by trials, on all sides destroyed,
his sons and daughters drinking wine at the end.

Hopeless, Why die I not from the womb? he asks,
Man, born for trials, confined by hurt that ends.

They happen to mortals in a fallen world
Smells of trees in the wind remind to the end.

As time, healer of naught, grinds Rachel to dust
We run, hoping for some kind line in the end.

Crazy week.

This week I'm staying with Derek while my parents are sipping fruity drinks on a beach in Mexico. My schedule's been pretty insane, but it's nothing I can't handle. On Sunday I took my parents to the airport (5:30 am!), then went to church with Derek, Cara, and Clarence. After church we made stuffed french toast, eggs, and sausage for dinner. That night we did homework together and then played Clue--Cara and I bought it at Wal-Mart for $10. We went to bed pretty late, so I was exhausted the next morning when I had to get Derek off to school before driving to Provo with Cara for class. My classes were pretty normal; luckily I'm ahead on my homework, or else this week would be even crazier. After class I drove to American Fork for a job interview. Half an hour later I was hired as a content writer for OrangeSoda.
I'm really excited. The best part about the job is I get to work at my own pace writing articles and content for websites, and I never have to go into the office. It's nice to have a steady job finally.

My internship is going really well; I was busy today trying to get an index updated for a book that has to go to press Thursday. There have been a lot of problems lately with this book and I have to go in tomorrow as well in order to make sure it goes to press on time. I love working at Deseret Book because I feel like everything I'm working on is really important and I learn so much from having to read them all. I'm trying to compile a list of all the books I've worked on so far so I can buy them. I like the idea of having a copy of everything I've worked on.

The rest of this week is pretty straightforward. My parents come home on Thursday, and Gully Lights is playing at Velour at 8 pm. I'm so excited to see them play! They're really good live.

We should bring back mix tapes.

I'm talking mix tapes of the caliber found in High Fidelity or Hairstyles of the Damned. Yes. I've been making a lot of mixes for work lately, and since I have nothing else to blog about, I'll share the track listings of one mix with you...song name first, followed by artist. P.S. I don't believe in the whole "You can't have the same artist twice" nonsense. Nonsense. As long as they're not consecutive, you're fine.
